The Bayeux Tapestry is an embroidered cloth that depicts the events of the Norman conquest of England in 1066. The tapestry consists of seventy scenes with captions in Latin. The story behind the design is remarkable and worth exploring. The Bayeux Tapestry was commissioned by William’s half-brother, Bishop Odo, and made by English craftsmen. It was probably displayed on a wall at his newly built cathedral at Bayeux, France.
